Liu Jo Living reimagines “La Balza di Scilla”: design meets history and Mediterranean charm.

Our project at La Balza di Scilla, where LIUJO Living design meets the authentic soul of Calabria.

In the heart of the seaside village of Scilla, Liu Jo Living signs the interior design project of “La Balza di Scilla,” a historic residence overlooking Marina Grande, now transformed into an elegant boutique inn.

Once the summer retreat of the Princes Ruffo of Calabria, the 18th-century building has been reinterpreted with a contemporary touch, featuring custom-made furnishings, sustainable materials, and details that enhance the identity of the place. Iconic pieces such as the Bliss and Guest beds, Toro armchairs, and Ensemble Caillou Outdoor rugs embody a new approach to hospitality.

With this project, Liu Jo Living continues to pursue its vision of design hospitality: an approach where every space reflects the personality of its inhabitants, and every detail is crafted to offer a rich sensory and emotional experience. The concept of “changing outfits,” made possible by the removable covers and versatility of the upholstered pieces, ensures ever-contemporary interiors that stay in tune with evolving design trends.

“La Balza di Scilla” is not just a place to stay—it’s a journey through comfort, beauty, and history, signed by Liu Jo Living.
